Edward Lacey Burns IV

Edward Lacey Burns, IV, 65, of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.Born August 12, 1946 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Edward Lacey Burns, III and Alma Marie St. Francis Burns.He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Vietnam War.He had previously been employed as a police officer in Peoria, IL, where he was also a machinist for Caterpillar. He worked for the US Government as a medical equipment specialist at Walter Reed Medical Center and as an electrician and emergency generator specialist for the NIH. He was also a NICET fire and emergency alarm specialist for the Department of State, retired, and active in Jefferson County planning and political action.Edward was a member of Charles Town Moose Lodge No. 948, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 1136 in Brunswick, MD and Logan Lodge No. 25 AF&AM in Harpers Ferry, WV.He was an avid lifelong motorcyclist and was actively involved in motorcyclist rights and roadway safety.He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Ros Rutledge-Burns, at home; one son, Edward “Toby” Burns, V and wife, Andrea, of San Clemente, CA; three granddaughters, Alexa, Ashleigh and Alivia, god- daughter, Amanda Arndt, and numerous in-laws, nieces, one nephew, friends and relatives.Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, WV.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Meals on Wheels, P.O.
